Fish breeding projects using Artificial Insemination implemented along Mannar to Jaffna coast line

Fish breeding projects using Artificial Insemination technique are being successfully  implemented along Mannar to Jaffna coast line, said the Aquatic Species Breeding Extension  Officer for, Kilinochchi, Mullaitheevu and Jaffna, S. Saleepan. The object of this scheme is to breed and Market fish which have good demand and could be breed using natural and artificial insemination methods.

People who had training in this in Vietnam are serving as instructors, he said. Already, fishlets from hatching centres in Chillaw and Puttalam districts  were obtained and used to breed fish in lagoons in the North.
