For the past few days the harvest of fish has gone up. Particularly large haul had been experienced in the bay area and in the Islands, said the Department of Fisheries and Acqua Resources.
Parai, Oola, Kumbala, Ora and Soorai varieties are caught in large numbers. This has also caused the decline of prices of fish being brought to markets their prices had dropped. Further, as it is lent period for Christians and auspicious days for Hindus, they are abstaining from fish.
