The GA, Kilinochchi, Suntharam Arumainayagam has said that 6 groups had been appointed to prepare a full report on the losses in Kilinochchi District and the task of collecting data is being pursued now.
Elaborating further, he said that, due the abnormal weather conditions that prevailed in the Kilinochchi District, serious flood situation had occurred.
Several thousand families had been affected by floods and had to displace from their houses, their paddy fields and cattle had been devastated, and the roads used by them had been heavily damaged.
Hence, several actions have to be taken to bring the life of the people to their routine level. With a view to this 6 groups had been appointed to go into action immediately.Out of the 6 groups, two each will operate in Karaichchi and Kandawalai Divisions and one each in Pooneryn and Pachchilaipalli Divisions.
The reports prepared by these groups will be completed and published in the first week of next year. Through this, affected housed, the health facilities, cattle killed, Damaged roads, bridges, destroyed paddy fields and livelihood destroyed will be individually evaluated and their values assessed to prepare final Total Losses of the district.
Following the assessment of full data, next stage of development works will be undertaken on the basis of assessments of identified needs, he said.
