The Northern Province and the Mannar District have secured a rare honour of clinching the first places in the G.C.E (O.L) at National and District levels respectively.
With 68.37% of the School candidates of the passing the C.C.E.(A.L) – 2017 and securing 62.02 % at National Level, the North has secured the top spot in its educational journey.
Being in the second place in the year 2016 and securing the first place in 2018 is a massive and superb turning point in the Educational Journey, said the NPC Educational Minister, K.Sarveswaran in a media conference in the Ministry of Education yesterday.
In the school section 11,591 students sat for the Exam obtaining 68.37% pass rate and the 1st place for Northern Province, at the National Level
In the all comers section 13,643 sat for exam, 65.65 % passing it, obtaining 64.38% at the National level winning the 3rd place for the Province.

The Northern Province is also leading the Provinces in lowest fail rate.
The Minister thanked the Officials of the Department Of Education, Principals, Teachers and the Students who contributed to this great success.
