A Jaffna based news paper has published a news item to the effect that the Embassy of a neighbouring country has poked its nose into the Ministerial Appointments of the Northern Provincial Council.
It has exerted pressure asking not to give any Ministerial post for a person named by a political party, since he was considered as a spy of a country with enmity with it. This pressure has been exerted in the form of an advice to a personal Secretary of the VIP handling this affair.
There is a doubt the said member is acting as a spy to an enemy country and because of the he should not be appointed as a Minister, it has been clarified.
It has been suggested not to give ministerial post to this member of a former Armed group against whom, his co-party members have spread several ‘stories’.
A second level officer of the High Commission of a neighbouring country had made a visit to Jaffna recently. He met politicians at a hotel in Jaffna. He wanted to meet the CM but could not be accommodated. Then the instructions were given at the above meeting.
