A resolution has been adopted in the NPC yesterday regarding 3 TPPs detained in Anuradhapura prison. It says that, 3 TPPs detained in Anuradhapura prison are engaged in a fast unto death for 12 days now. The President, Prime Minister, Minister of Prison reforms should immediately consider their demands and provide a solution to them.
The Leader of the House said that the resolution was immediately e-mailed to the relevant factions. The 107th sitting of the NPC was held at the Council’s hall yesterday. The Leader of the house tabled the resolution regarding the fasting TPPs.
The resolution insisted that, the demands of the 3 TPPs should be Considered on a human life basis and on a humanitarian basis by the President, Prime Minister and the Minister for Prison Reforms, and an immediate solution provided to them.
Speaking on the resolution, Member Raviharan said that, Karuna is roaming freely. Pillaiyan also was roaming freely until he was put to jail recently. In a context where several important LTTEers are out side, these youth are detained in prison. Hence the NPC must take significant action to release them.
Other members also expressed similar sentiments. The resolution was adopted unanimously.
