The matter regarding people forced to disappear is on top of the agendas of UN and the TNA, said TNA MP, M.A.Sumanthiran.
The struggle of the relatives of the missing persons at the Kilinochchi Kandaswamy Temple, extended into the 39th day yesterday. Sumanthiran said so while joining the fasters along with another MP, Sritharan.
Continuing further he said that, we are well aware of your mental sufferings. Your desires and our likings are not different. We have revealed verifiable heavy pressure up to Geneva. The Government should adopt soon the act regarding the Secretariat for the missing persons. It is known that the government is undertaking activities regarding this.
After the act is enacted, the Technical Assistance of the UN representatives and ICRC representatives will be incorporated in that Task Force. The Government should fulfill the matters for which it had provided co-sponsorship.
We have asked the International Economic Community that, pressure be exerted through GSP+ etc.
We know that the matters said by government leaders in the south will hurt your feelings. But they cannot fail to deliver justice to us the affected people. We will be with your sentiments always. we will work for them, he said.
