Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry today and made a statement, reports say.
He appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on being summoned over allegations of fraud and corruption.
According to secretary of the presidential commission Lacille de Silva, Gotabhaya Rajapaks arrived at the commission at around 10 am.
De Silva noted that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was summoned before the commission to inquire into the deployment of nearly Five Hundred (500) Rakna Lanka employees for various activities during the January Presidential Election. He went on to note that several other activities of the organization are also under scrutiny.
The secretary of the commission Lacille de Silva added that investigations into the activities of Rakna Lanka have reached its final stage and that on earlier occasions high ranking officials of Rakna Lanka were questioned by the commission.
