Gota decides to appoint retired Army Officer as Governor of North

News has leaked out that President Gotabhaya has decided to appoint a former Army Officer as the new Governor of the Northern Province.

It is learnt that he has decided to give this appointment after the elections and the appointment of the Ministers.

President Gota has decided to appoint Retd. Major General Boniface Perera , as the new Governor of the Northern Province.

Major General Boniface Perera has served as the Commanding Officer of Vanni and as the Officer in Charge of Rehabilitation.

While serving as the chief staff of Army Volunteer Force, he was expected to be appointed as the Commander of the Army, Major General Mahesh Senanayake was appointed for that post.

Meanwhile, the current Governor, P.M.S. Charles has been tipped to be granted a Diplomatic position.
