The TNA has not decided to support either Gotabhaya or UNP. We will support a candidate who will take the problems of the Tamil people among the Sinhalese people and one who will cooperate with our demands, said the former Leader of the House of Northern Provincial Council, C.V.K. Sivagnanam.
In a media conference held at his office in Jaffna, yesterday, he answered as above when he was asked that news are being reported that the TNA is meeting Gotabhaya Rajapakse, whether the TNA will support Gotabhaya?
We have to meet every one. Then only we will know their stances. After speaking with everyone we will take our bargaining position, he further said.
Gotabhaya has said that he will implement 13th Amendment without bringing in a new Constitution. Will this create a chance of supporting Gotabhaya?, he was asked.
In reply, he said that, at the current context, there is no question of supporting Gota or not. We will wait till announce their candidates. Then we will consider who will accept our demands at an optimum level, who will support our demands, who will take them to the Sinhala people and then we will take a decision.
