Government Machinery put into top gear for establishing Sinhala Colonies in Mulaitheevu

The Government has taken action to establish a massive irrigation scheme under the name of Hibul Oya for the Sinhala people who had already been colonized in lands of Tamil people in Mulaitheevu by  disseising the lands where the Tamil people had lived traditionally, their paddy Lands and tanks  and further to colonize Sinhala people in the scheme.

Mankindimalai, Aamaiyankulam, Ceylon Theatres Farm, Hen Farm, Vedivaithakallu, Mayil Kulam, are  border villages of Mulaitheevu, and some  border villages of Vavuniya North are villages where Tamil people lived from ancient times. These villages are gobbled up and made into Sinhala Colonies and Sinhalese name had been given to them.

Now the rivers such as Sooriyananru and periyaru which belongs to Mulaitheevu are to be blocked and tanks such as Raman kulam, Kododaikulam, Vellankulam, Oyamadukulam are being filled up for this scheme. The lands cultivated under these Tanks are also will be disseised.

A motion is to be tabled in NPC regarding this matter.
