Government should think of not giving anymore just because we had accepted lesser powers: says CM

The Government should not think that Tamil people need not be given anything anymore on the basis that we have accepted in-adequate powers, said the Chief Minister and one of the Co-chairs of Tamil People’s Council(TPC), Justice C.V.Wigneswaran.

He was addressing the meeting of the TPC yesterday held at the Auditorium of the Jaffna Library. TPC had passed the 2 years mark and within this two years, Interim Report on Constitution had been put out and arrangements being made to hold the LG Elections.

It is notable that TPC was able to institute welcome new thinking trends in political parties. The TPC has the obligation of embracing on its moves forward, all Tamil people without any, area, Provincial and even foreign country wise discrimination.

The majority people took into their hands all the ruling rights, around 100 years ago and had taken Political Economical and social activities against the Tamil people thereby blunting the unique self right of the Tamil people, using their majority power. From the very start they were trying evade the basic truth that Tamil people has the Right of Self Determination.

Most of our political leaders are aged over 60 years. They should allow younger generation to get installed in the leadership and inoculate their experience into them and develop them into effective leaders. They should act like Kamarajar the ‘king maker’ . But what we see now is the attempts of the ‘aged’ leaders to remain at the helm for their life time.

I request that youths of both sexes with proper qualifications be included in the forthcoming LG elections, he said.
