The Muslim Congress and the UNP had agreed to form the government of the Eastern Provincial Council under the leadership of the TNA.
This was decided in a meeting held on the day before yesterday (13.1.2014) night at Colombo, with TNA, UNP Leader and Premier Ranil Wicremasinghe and the Leader of the SLMC, Rauf Hakeem participating in it.
Following the regime change at the centre, as per in other Provincial Councils, Eastern opposition also had decided to take over the rule in the East.
Currently TNA holds, 11 seats, UNP, 5 seats and SLMC, 7.
One portfolio each to TNA and UNP and two for SLMC will be allocated.
