The governments which come to power are treating the North and East like step children, said the former Chief Minister, C.V. Wigneswaran , yesterday.
He said this in an event for opening a free training centre for women affected by war.
The 30 years long war had inflicted several difficulties in the living standard of ordinary people. However the affected people in the south have been provided with all the modern facilities through the Government and foreign countries and have advanced well economically. We have observed during several instances where ordinary Tamil people are suffering without any assistance or aids, even to find three meals a day. Although we have taken up these matters with the Government several times, they are treating our people like step children.
