Government treats Tamil areas with disregard. Danger of stravation deaths looming, says Ananthy Saseetharan

As the people are curtailed to their homes and the curfew being extended indefinitely, their daily life have been rendered into much difficulties. The Government should devise a mechanism to provide food to all people alike, said the Secretary of the Eelam Tamilar Suyadchchi Kalakam, Ananthy Saseethran.

Although, the government had declared loan facility of Rs.,10,000/= through Samoorthy, the distribution is not uniform and varies from place to place. Further people are being asked to collect relief items from Cooperative Branches instead of delivering them at home.

Transport being curtailed and the Jaffna District being without adequate paddy production people will be pushed into starvation. The situation in Islands is more pathetic. Hence the Government should devise a mechanism to provide food to the people, she said.

While, Sinhala Party candidates go in vehicles with their party banners and taking political advantage by distributing relief items, Tamil politicians have been restrained from moving into people for relief work.

The Government should refrain from releasing condemned Army men using this crisis situation and treating Tamil people with a step motherly manner, she further said.
