President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that while government is committed to ensure media freedom in the island, it appeals to the journalists to ensure a healthy media culture.
He was speaking the 60 th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Press Association held at the BMICH yesterday. SLPA President Muditha Kariyawasam presided. SLPA National Organizer Upul Jayasinghe handed over the souvenir to President Sirisena. Media Minister Gayantha Karunathileke was also present.
President Sirisena continued that the journalists have a duty to educate the public through the media to move towards good governance.
