Grandmother in search for her grandson made to disappear dies

A grandmother who has engaged in a continuous struggle for the  last three years, demanding justice for her grandson made to disappear at Vadduvagal had died yesterday. Selvam Sivapakkiam is the grandmother who has met her death in this fashion. She is a native of Muhamalai and was residing at Manthuvil, Puthukudiyiruppu.

She had engaged in the struggle for her grandson, Alfred Thinu, who is the son of her daughter and was made to disappear at Vadduvagal in the final stages of war in 2009, amidst the effects of sun, rain , dew and sickness that afflicted her. for last few months she had been seriously affected by her illnesses.

Although, Thinu is the son her daughter, she had brought him up like her own son and kept on searching and complaining for him.

Having given two of her sons as Maveerars for the liberation struggle of this soil, she had always said that although she mourn for her sons, she would be much happier if Thinu returns soon.

It is notable that nearly 60 persons including this grandmother who had been engaged in the three years of continuous struggle for the persons made to disappear have lost their lives during the said period.
