One person was killed and 15 wounded on Friday in a drive-by shooting at a Sri Lankan election rally attended by the finance minister, police said.
Three people were being treated in an intensive care unit of a hospital in the capital, Colombo, hospital sources said.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake told media four men sprayed bullets from a car driving past the outdoor rally in Colombo attended by about 600 people. He was unhurt.
“They seemed to target me. I am safe. Four people from a car shot at in all directions,” he said.
