The Governor of the North, Dr. Suren Ragavan said that he is hearing the cries of Tamil people in his own voice.
He said so in an interview granted to a media from Jaffna.
I am the first Tamil Governor appointed to the Northern province in the 32 years history of Northern Province. Hence I am able to hear the cries of Tamil People in my own voice. I think that there is a political signal of the President in this appointment.
Due to this the problems of the Tamil people will be heard by me in their own language. My priorities will be Re-settlement and rehabilitation.
We have nearly 100,000 of our people as refugees in India. They have all the rights to be resettled here. Lands had to be found to resettle them.
From the end of the war to date the Army has occupied state and private lands. 90% of these lands have been released from 2010. Fishermen still living in transit camps should be resettled near the sea. As I find the fishermen and farmers at the bottom level my attention will be paid in Fishing and Agriculture, he said.
