The military security around the Kopay Thuyillumillam has been tightened. This sudden tightening of the security is a consequence the organization to hold the Maveerar Day event in front of the Army Camp which had been located on destructed ruins of the first ever Maveerar Thuyilluimillam at Kopay, breaching all humanitarian norms, on the 27th of this month.
An Army Camp had been established in the Kopay Thuyillumillam. Nobody can enter this camp. However MPc, Sivajilingam organized and held Sacrificial flame lighting event last year, on the road in front of the Army Camp formerly a Thuyillumillam.
In a context where this year also arrangement had been made to hold the Flame lighting event in memory of Maveerar intered at the said Thuyillumillam, the security on the said road had been tightened with Buffel Armoured Carriers being stationed at strategic points on the road, so as to prevent anybody going into the venue.
Further the MIC operatives are on 24-hour surveillance on the road and the camp had been fortified with new barbed wire fences. Army soldiers had been stationed in every direction and the numbers of the every vehicle passing through are noted by the MIC men.
In a context where the Government granted permission to observe Maveerar Day, the public could attend the events without any fear, it is said.
