History will never forgive Sinhalese Parties, if Sampanthan is sent away empty handed: says Mano Ganesan

Minister Mano Ganeshan said yesterday that, history will never forgive the Sinhalese Parties, if the Leader of the Tamil People, Era Sampanthan is sent to the North, with empty hands.

“Late Thanthai S.J.V. Selvanayagam said that Tamils could be saved only by God. Please don’t make him say that, the whole Sri Lanka could saved only by God. Don’t weaken him and strengthen militants.”, requested he.

He was speaking in yesterday’s debate on the Interim Report on the Drafting of the new Constitution.

Speaking further he said, I have several disputes with Sampanthan. He had come down many steps and engaged in dialogue. I know that he cannot come down further. Hence please don’t send him with empty hands. The majority parties such as UNP, SLFP, Mahindha faction and JVP should understand that the history will never forgive them if they do so.

The Sinhalese people are afraid that the Tamils will go into another liberation struggle. It is a justifiable fear.

Tamils are afraid of two things,  that this country will be transferred into a fully Buddhist Country and that they will cheated without the powers being devolved to them. These are also justifiable fears. Sinhalese people and the parties should understand this, he said.
