Homage paid at Palaly for Indian Soldiers killed in confrontations with LTTE in Sri Lanka

An event was held in Palaly to pay homage to Indian soldiers killed in confrontations with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka. A memorial tower had been erected at Palaly for the Indian Soldiers who were killed in the operations including Operation Pawan undertaken by the Indian Peace Keeping Forces (IPKF – dubbed by some as Indian Peace Killing Force ) against the Tigers during the period from 1987 – 1990.

The Indian consul in Jaffna, A.Nadarajan , Commanding Officer of the Security Forces – Jaffna, Major General Tharsana Hettiarachchi , Officers of the Indian Consulate in Jaffna, and Sri Lankan Army Officers participated in this event and paid their homage with wreaths and garlands.
