An attack had been made on the house of persons who organized the Maveerar Day event, by unidentified persons at the early hours of yesterday.
The window panes of the house of Puspamalar had been smashed by the attackers. The attack had been made at a time when Pushpamalar was staying alone only with her grandson. Although she had tried to escape out, she could not do so. She had just taken refuge inside a locked room for the duration of the attack.
She said that while her villagers and her son J. Tharsan were making preparations for the Maveerar Day event, police came there and had driven away the people getting ready for the event and damaged the decorations and the other arrangements. They also tried to arrest my son and take him away. However, however the public and the relatives were able to get him off the hold of the police. Her house had been attacked in this background, she further said.
She also said that a complaint was made with Point Pedro polices and held an inquiry at the spot. The Human Rights Commission also had been notified about the incident and the Point Pedro police are continuing to threaten the organizers of the Maveerar day event with arrest, she said.
