The houses of people in the Vali-North area which was under the control of the Army for the last 28 years and released yesterday had been demolished out of recognition and are overgrown with wild growths. The people who eagerly went see their houses were seen weeping and cursing the Army for the wanton destruction.
People were displaced from the Vali- North area in 1990 due to the war situation. For 28 years after the displacement, these areas had been occupied in the name of the High Security Zone. In the context where the people holding several protest rallies demanding to release their Lands, their lands were being released in stages. Thus, 683 acre lands belonging to 4 Grama Officer Divisions were released yesterday.
The security Forces men had used the houses that were in the released land. But when they leaving they have removed items like Doors, door frames and roofing material and left the houses demolished. The houses along the new boundary of the Army are intact and people asked why houses in the released area had been demolished. The suggested that they had destroyed the Houses Deliberately.
