Houthi rebels seize Yemen president’s palace and shell home

Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, appeared to have fallen to Shia rebels who overran the presidential palace on Tuesday night after securing control of most other state institutions during days of heavy clashes.

The fate of the country’s elected president, Abed Mansour Hadi, remained unclear, as the rebels, known as Houthis, rampaged through the city. Hadi is believed to be barricaded in his home in another part of the city, which rebels were shelling with artillery throughout the evening.
