Human skeleton recovered from the site of an Army sentry at Nayanmarkaddu, Chemmany

Human remains had been detected in a pit dug for water supply works in Nayanmarkaddu in Kalviyankadu.

These human remains had been found in a location where the Army was stationed during the war period.

However the construction work for an underground tank for the Jaffna Kilinochchi water Supply scheme is being continued in complete disregard to the finding of Human remains there.

An Indian contractor is engaged in the construction of Underground tank for the Jaffna kilinochchi water Supply scheme.

When the ground was dug for about 3’ these remains had been detected there. The media men who went there to cover the detection they were not allowed to do so. Then the matter was informed to the Chief Engineer of the National Water Supplies and Drainage Board, who immediately came to the spot, informed the police and got them to spot.

After discussing about the find it was decided to inform the Grama Niladhari. Only after that the media was allowed into the area. However the construction work is continuing regardless to the find.
