The Leader of the TNA and the Leader of the opposition, Era Sampanthan had said that if due solution is not delivered within a united country, the Tamil people will seek their own solution.

It is not our objective to split the country. Our Policy is that, we should live respectfully with self respect, prestige and honour and with our right to internal self determination acknowledged, within a united country, in areas where we had exclusively populated, through a most ultimate and maximum power devolution.
India has the obligation to implement the Indo- Sri Lanka agreement signed between India and Sri Lanka in 1987. It cannot go away from this duty.
We would like to create a solution acceptable to us through speaking with our people within our country. If such a solution is not delivered, we will not hesitate to do what is needed to deliver a fair solution, he said.
