India and the West asking us not to disturb this regime, accuses Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam
We were the people who willingly brought regime to power, but India and the West is asking us not to disturb this regime, said Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam , the leader of the Tamil National People Front.
He was talking in the meeting held in Vavuniya on Sunday for clarifying the Solution proposals of the TPC.
Elaborating further he said that even if we get a solution a question remain as to how far will it be sustained? If the Sinhalese race tries to breach it unilaterally, what could be done? Because, when the Government breached ceasefire agreements, the international community which supported and monitored the agreement did not take any action. A question was raised here as to whether the same thing will happen here.
Particularly, the politics should be viewed on a power basis. Especially, the political situations that is existing now. Particularly if we look at the International politics, after the regime change that occurred in 2015, what the western embassies and countries like India asking us is not to disturb this regime. Don’t give much pressure to this regime. Because what existed was a worse regime, but, what has now come is a regime liked by the West and India. So, please don’t disturb, so they say.
But our idea is not to disturb. Our idea is not to bring Mahindha again. We also have some needs. The International community should understand those needs, and our matters which are justifiable, and get us a solution. We have made some compromises. We are asking for federal system that is already exists in several countries. We are not asking for a regime non-existing in the world. Hence the problem here is the Sinhala Nationalism. These just problems should be understood. For this we had to get together and raise our voices politically and democratically against the Government. If the Tamil people get together to show their opposition to this Government then it will be problem. It will disturb the Sinhala people. If any disturbance is caused among them, another regime change could occur. Therefore, we are calling upon the International community, to understand all these correctly, and find solutions to our fair demands by utilizing the influence you have inside this government which you claim is yours. The Tamil People’s Council will be build up as a people’s movement for this, he said.
