Three Indian Officials are to visit Jaffna today for directly studying about extending the Palaly Air Port and transform it into a Regional Air Port.
The three Indian officials will arrive at Palaly at 9.30 a.m. will study the Runway and the location of the Air Port and scheduled to return to Colombo by noon, the Sri Lankan Air Force information sources said.
An agreement has been already reached between the governments of India and Sri Lanka to renovate the Palaly Air Port into a Regional Air Port.
Further India has intimated its willingness to start an Air Services from palely to Tamil Nadu.
In this context India is ready to start work on developing the Palaly Air Port into a Regional Airport. Indian Consul in Jaffna had announced this last week.
The Indian Officials are to visit Palaly in this background.
It is notable that Indian Civil Aviation officials had visited Palaly Air Port and studied the Air Port. At that time they reported that the Air Port could be renovated without acquiring additional lands of people.
