Initiate dialogue for political solution: TNA to Govt

Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M.A.Sumanthiran has sought the new government to initiate a dialogue with it to find a permanent solution to the national question.

Sumanthiran has made this request in an article he had written to an  English daily. He said: ‘ The new government has shown genuine willingness to respect the Rule of Law. We hope this willingness will extend to the full implementation of the Constitution, which includes the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.
Once that step is taken the government must also start to undo the several acts which were done in violation of the provisions of the 13th Amendment: demerger of the NorthEast and the passage of the Divineguma Bill are two examples of this. And while this is being done, the government must start dialogue with the Tamil National Alliance with regard to a permanent solution to the Tamil National Question.
