Mulaitheevu Magistrate court had issued an interim injunction on Muliwaikkal Commemoration to be held near a church.
On day before yesterday the parish priest of the area, Rev. Rajendran Ezhilrajan was summoned to the Mulaitheevu police station and a 2-hour long inquiry was made from him before he was released.
The court has quoted in its order that as per the A-report submitted, the court consider that national security, integrity, and peace will be affected, and had issued a 14 day interim injunction on all including the Rev. Fr. to commemorate Muliwaikkal near this Catholic Church under section 106 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The DIG/Mulaitheevu when contacted said that we were informed the Menhirs for persons killed at Mulliwaikkal were to be erected. However, we could not confirm the identities of the persons to, be remembered and that the injunction has been issued on request by Mulaitheevu police.
However there no ban on observing commemoration elsewhere, but they should be observed without causing disturbance to National Security, integrity and peace , he further said.
