In a context where the struggle undertaken by the Iranaitheevu people demanding their resettlement in their own lands in Iranaitheevu reaching one year mark, they have decided to make a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, Jaffna, against the Government Administration in Jaffna, for not taking due interest in resettling them in Iranaitheevu.
Being displaced from Iranaitheevu, in 1992, the people of Iranaitheevu settled in Iranaimathanagar in Mulankavil.
183 families which git displaced before 27 years had increased to more than 400 families and all are living in Iranaimathanagar forsaken by everybody.
After completing 1 year of struggle Iranaimathanagar, they went by boats on 23/4/2018 to Iranaitheevu and continuing their struggle there without basic needs. Although they were there for 8 days, no Government official had paid attention on their struggle.
Hence relevant factions should give them due solution to them, failing which we will make a complaint against them with the Human Rights Commission in Jaffna, they said.
