The movement also has expressed its gratitude to Lee Kuan Yew for making Tamil Language, one of the official Languages of Singapore.

“The Tamil brethren all over the world should be ever grateful to this monumental man for making our dear to heart, Tamil Language, one of the official Languages of a Developed Nation” the Movement said in its tribute.

The full text of the tribute is as follows:

Singapore, at the end of the 2nd World War was like a child abandoned by World Powers and Regional Powers. One single man took a lead from the great Tamil poet ‘Auwai’s proverbs. “Cleanliness will give you feed” it says. In the evolution of the modern day Singapore, the cleanliness was not only adopted on the roads of Singapore, but also in its administration sans corruption and other ultra-vireses.

This single man, revived a war – torn area of around 650 Sq. Km, in to an Economical Super Power, and went on to become the Hero of a “Tiger Economy”.

Born on 16th September 1923 in Singapore Town which was a British colony at that time, Lee Kuan Yew, studied law in the Cambridge University, formed a political party, People Action Party and became the first Prime Minister of Singapore in 1959. For 31years he distinguished himself as the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, is not by no means a name of a single person. It is the name of a history. It is the name of a great man who changed over a 3rd World Country in to an Economical Super Power. Behind every move in his life is the history of the country of Singapore.

While we are playing the “Last post” for this wonderful man nobody could forget his diplomatic                 hegemony with which he guided a country where, Chinese who follow Buddhism, Malays who follow Islam, and Tamils who follow Hinduism, without any racial conflicts.

On a visit to Sri Lanka in 1960s, just after he took over as the Premier, he declared that, he will mould Singapore on the characteristics of Sri Lanka. But in 1980, he lamented, on his observations at that time, That Sri Lanka is now an example for how a state should not be. Let us ruminate this great man’s words, while mourning for him.

The Tamil brethren all over the world should be ever grateful to this monumental man for making our dear to heart, Tamil Language, one of the official Languages of a Developed Nation.

Without stopping with its own growth, Singapore gave the required momentum for the neighboring regions, to reach out for a ‘Tiger Economy’, of their own.

The Economy of Singapore gave a new definition to the Economical evaluations of the world. The Singapore type of economy is called “Tiger Economy.”

The real Tribute the war affected people could pay to this Hero of the “Tiger Economy” is to adopt his policies.

We convey our heart –felt condolence to the people of Singapore and his family who are grieved by his demise.
