Jaffna Courts reject Police application to ban Mulliwaikkal Commemoration and orders to conduct the commemoration subject to Isolation Act

Jaffna Magistrate  Peter Paul yesterday rejected an application by the Police to ban the Mulliwaikkal Commemoration which has been observed without any regard to isolation act and ordered that that the commemoration could be held subject to isolation act and postponed the police application to 30th of this month.

The Chief Inspector of Police of Jaffna Police submitted an application stating that Commemoration events are being held in Jaffna, gathering people in contravention to isolation Act and to ban the commemoration event at Mulliwaikkal today.

11 persons including Gajendrakumar had been indicated as gathering people and holding commemoration in contravention to isolation act and when they try to intervene, they are asking us to go to courts and they settle it out in the courts and they are applying for a ban on commemoration.

After studying the application the Magistrate ordered to allow commemoration subject to isolation act and postponed the application to the 30th.
