Jaffna goes into festive mood for the TPC’s Grand Rally ‘Ezhuha Thamizh’ which commenced at two points and proceeding towards Jaffna Esplanade
The Ezhuha Thamizh rally under aegis of Tamil People’s Council geared to a start with rallies starting at Nallur and Parameswara Junction and currently proceeding towards Jaffna esplanade amidst various slogans being shouted aloud and blaring loud speakers playing songs of the Liberation struggle.
Large and unprecedented crowds of people with banners and placards are flowing in human waves along the routes. Hundreds of Local and international Tamizh Organizations have openly pledged support for the rally.
While one of the two main Tamil dailies gave a wide coverage about rally scheduled today, Other was void of any news whatsoever regarding the rally. A person came from Palai said that all the Shops except food shops from Palai junction have been closed.
The CM, NPC, C.V.Wigneswaran, a Co-Chair of TPC started off the rally at 10.07 a.m.from Nallur and is expected to address the people at the esplanade. Gajendrakumar Ponnampalm, Suresh Premachandran, V. Ananthasangaree are among those present at the point. Large number Christian Clergy are to be seen among the participants. Another Co-Chair of TPC, Heart Specialist, P.Luxman will proclaim the declaration of the day.
People are moving in a kilometer long procession with Motorcyclists waiting to follow.
