Jaffna High Court issued an interim injunction offering animal sacrifices in Jaffna

The All Ceylon Hindhu Mehasabai had filed an application for an order to stop immediately all animal sacrifices in Hindu Temples. High Court Judge Illancheliyan had issued an interim injunction on the Animal sacrifices.The Judge commented that the permission for animal sacrifices are given under meat stalls Act, asked whether the Temples are running meat stalls.

Sacred-Grove20881The Divisional Secretaries of Vali-North, Vali-South, Vali- South West, Vali-West, and Kopay , Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, MOHs of Thellipalai, Chankanai, Uduvil , Sandylipai and Kopay, Jaffna Region Director of Health Services, Secretary to the NP Ministry of Health, and the attorney are cited as respondents in this case.

An interim injunction is issued by the judge on All Pradeshiya sabas, MOHs Director of Health Services and the Secretary to the NP Ministry of Health banning them from issuing permits for animal sacrifices.

The court also had said that, any breach of these interim injunctions will be considered as contempt of court.
