Jaffna Police apply for injunction in a bid to stop Thileepan’s Commemoration

Jaffna police has filed an application to ban the Commemoration of  Thileepan, a member of a banned Terrorist Movement, to be held at his memorial located in Nallur, at the Jaffna Magistrate Court.

They have also filed application that the Court should order the JMC Commissioner to remove the fence around the memorial, temporary shed erected and the Photograph of Thileepan placed inside the shed.

After examining the application of the police, the judge, Sinnaththurai Satheestharan ordered that the Commissioner to appear in Court on 25/09/2018.

Meanwhile it is learned that  a group of AALs led by President of the Jaffna Bar Association, Presidents Counsel, Santha Abimanyusingam are to appear on court and to submit strong opposition to this application in the Court.
