Jaffna Secretariat celebrates its Golden Jubilee yesterday

The District Secretariat of Jaffna, celebrated the completion of 50 years in the service of people yesterday. The old Kacheri was established in Jaffna and operated for around 130 year, when a necessity arose for a new Secretariat due to exigencies. the construction of a new Secretariat building commenced 1960 and the then Minister of Local Government W.Dahanayake declared opened the new secretariat, then the 3rd biggest Administrative office in Sri Lanka, in 1965.

The incumbent District Secretary is N.Vethanayagan and the Secretariat consists of around 40 offices with more than 400 officers and employees.
