Japan donates 127 Million US$ for demining in the North- Donation Agreement signed in Kilinochchi
The Japanese Government has donated funds for the humanitarian demining activities undertaken in the North.
The said fund has been provided to SCAVITHA Humanitarian Aid and Relief Project (SHARP) and HALO TRUST organization which are engaged in demining projects in the North.
Japanese Ambassador, Akira Sujiyama, Programme Director of SHARP, Retd. Lt.Col. Sarath Jeyawardene and Programme Director of HALO TRUST, Belingda Voce signed the agreement Donation in Kilinochchi day before yesterday.
The above said organizations are making their contributions towards making Sri Lanka a Mines free country in 2020.It is the agreement for donating funds, that was signed day before yesterday.
It is notable that Japan is making major contributions towards demining activities.
