Jayantha Jayasuriya sworn in as 29 th AG

Senior Additional Solicitor General Jayantha Jayasuriya, President’s Counsel was sworn in as the 29 th Attorney General of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday, February 11.Earlier, the Constitutional Council that met in the Parliamentary Complex with the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in the Chair recommended him for the post.

Jayantha Jayasuriya joined the Attorney-General’s Department in November 1983. He was appointed as the Additional Solicitor-General in 2011. He succeeds Yuvanjana Wijayatilake P.C, who retired as AG on January 10.
