More journalist had been killed in the Jaffna Peninsula, says Sumanthiran

More Journalists have been killed in the Jaffna Peninsula only. But no proper investigations were undertaken relevant to them, said TNA spokesman, M.A. Sumanthiran.

The  20th anniversary of the Colombo Declaration was held at the Cinnamon Grand hotel yesterday  with the Participation of the Premier, Ranil  Wickremasinghe.

Speaking there on behalf of Era Sampanthan,. Sumanthiran further said that, more incidents of attacks on media and journalists have occurred within Jaffna Peninsula. 15 Journalists had been murdered there.  This is the most number of Journalists murdered for a single District. But no proper inquiry has been made into these incidents.

Media and journalist should be there, but Media should publish true news. Several false news are being published with absolute immunity. This should be avoided. We are continuously fighting for Media Freedom. We are firm in that Media freedom should be established, he said.
