The journalists who are working to provide correct information to people have to work with social responsibility, said the Northern Governor Dr. Suren Ragavan.
The event for awarding the certificates and awards to journalists who had participated in the workshop relevant to Right to Information Act conducted by the International Media Support (IMS) in conjunction with the Jaffna Press Club was held in Jaffna day before yesterday evening.
The Governor said as above while participating in the event as special Guest and addressing the gathering. While saying that he is to introduce soon ways and means for everyone to know openly information on all the projects undertaken by the Northern Provincial Council, he also said that this activity will be a ‘right to inform’ people .
Some Journalists were behind the evolution of The Tamil Nadu state, which was found to be a poor state in 1970s into the 2nd state to influence the economy of India, he pointed out. He requested that the journalists should work with social responsibility ans dedication to build up the Northern which has fallen down due to war.
This workshop relevant to the Right to know information Act, was commenced in September 2018, and 40 journalists who participated in this workshop were awarded certificates in this even and three best participants were awarded scholarships to learn more about the Right to Information in India, and awards, by the Governor.
