The journalists do their duties for the Society, they should not hindered, Judge advises police
Jaffna Magistrate Court Magistrate, Anthonysamy Peter Paul advised the Police that the journalists are doing their duty for the Society. No hindrance should be posed against their work. The Media men should not be assaulted or attempt to assault them.
Warning the Acting OIC of the Kopay Police station, who assaulted the media man who had gone to Video an incident of Violence in Kokkuvil area, released him on bail and postponed the case.
A complaint was recorded from the journalist at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Based on this complaint, the Acting OIC, Kopay Police Station was interdicted from his post and inquiries made from him.
When the case filed by the Jaffna police was called, Senior AAL Remidius appeared for the accused and informed court that the accused had been admitted to Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Ordering the Police to inquire the suspect at the hospital, went to the hospital, issued the warning to the suspect and released him on surety bail worth 50,000/= and adjourned the case to March 6th and further ordered to send summons to the affected to be present on that date.
