The court has ordered that former State Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muraleetharan alias Karuna Amman, who was arrested on a charge of misusing a state vehicle, be remanded till 7th of December.
Karuna Amman was called to FCID on Tuesday morning, for inquiries on a charge of misusing a vehicle worth Rs.90 Million and belonging to the President Secretariat and the police took a statement from him.
Following the recording of the statement, he was arrested by the police and produced in the Colombo Magistrate Court, and the police requested that the suspect be remanded as the inquiries are not completed.
The lawyers appeared for him objected the remanding and stated that although the suspect has informed the relevant officials to take over he vehicle at the end of his ministerial term, no action was taken by the said officials to take over the vehicle. Following the Lawyers informing the Court that the suspect has security threats the court ordered the Prison Officials that, special security be provided to him.
