It is reported that, although the President had announced that lands under the Army will be released yesterday, the Army had not allowed people to go into the said lands and the people had to return disappointed.
Because of this the owners who went to claim their lands had to return back disappointed. The President had announced yesterday in Mulaitheevu that more than 1,000 acres which are currently under the control of the Army will be released today, the 21st.
As per this 45 acre were to be released in Vali North, specifically 30 acre in Thaiyiddy South, and 15 acre in Ottagapulam.
However, when owners went inspect their lands in the morning, the Army did not allow them to go in and had informed them that the lands will be released only today(22nd). The people waited till 4.00 p.m. and returned home disappointed, it is learnt.
