Lightning strikes coconut tree killing three, resting under it at Kupilan, Jaffna

Three people resting in a hut under a coconut tree in their garden were killed tragically when a lightning struck  coconut tree .

This tragic incident had occurred yesterday noon, at Kupilan, Jaffna.

Thirunavukkarasu Kannan (Aged 49), a father of 3 children, his sister, Kanthasamy Mynawathy(Aged 56), a mother of 6 children and their cousin Ravikkumar Sutha ( aged 43), a mother of 3 children, all of Mylankadu, Erlalai South were the persons killed in this misshape yesterday.

Mynawathy, Sutha and one Thiraviyam had gone to a plantation in Kupilan for plucking weeds.

Kannan kad taken lunch them. After lunch they were taking rest, with Thiraviyam sitting on the floor and others on stacks on weeds. At around noon  Thiraviyam had felt something hitting strongly on his leg and had fainted. When he recovered he found other three also fainted. Thiraviyam had come to the road got some help and took the fainted to hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the hospital doctors.

The inquirer into sudden death of the hospital, Namasivayam Premkumar held the postmortem on the bodies of the dead persons.
