After 4 years of back dragging the approval for CM’s Fund has been granted. The Attorney General has instructed the Governor’s Office to grant approval for the CM’s Fund. This approval has been granted with only 5 months left in the term of office of the Provincial Council.
S.Logeswaran , who will take over as the New Governor of Northern Province, on the 2nd of April, will hand over the Approval for the Chief Minister’s Fund Statute officially, it is reported. It was also learn that, some transfers within the Province will be made on that day.
The Northern Provincial Council was inaugurated in 2013. The Chief Minister’s Fund Statute was passed by the NPC in 2014. It was sent to the Governor for approval. The then Governor G.A.Chandrasiri rejected it as per AG Department’s instruction.
After Palihakara had taken over as the Governor, an amended statute was sent for his approval. The approval from the AG’s Department was no forthcoming and the back dragging continued.
While the CM had a meeting with the state Leader Maithripala, he had requested that approval be granted for the Fund, in vain in this context the AG Department has instructed the Governor’s Office to grant approval for the CM’s Fund after 4 years of backdragging.
