The Minister said so in this event and speaking further he said, ” When Ranil was the Agricultural Minister , he said that he will bring the Mahaweli to the North but, so far not even plot of a Tamil irrigated so far with Mahaweli water. What we say to the Mahaweli officials is that, bring Mahaweli to the North. Irrigate the lands but do not bring in Sinhala settlements with it. We will not consent to such settlements.

If we implement  Water Management in a proper way, Mahaweli water will not be needed here.
