Maithri and Chandrika to visit Jaffna for announcement of allowing fishing in Myliddy
President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Chandrika Kumaranathunge are expected to visit Jaffna of the Official Handing over of the lands to be re-settled in Vallalai and for the announcing the decision to allow fishing in Myliddy.
This event will be held in Vallalai, and the Jaffna District Secretariat is making all arrangements, it is reported.
Although the Cabinet had decided to release 1,100 acres for re-settlement, only Vallalai and Vasavilan will be released now. Others will be released after de-mining the areas. The re-settlers were allowed to inspect their lands, where 233 acres are to be released in Vallalai and 197 acres in Vasavillan.
Fishing in Myliddy seas is to be allowed and the Official announcement will be made by the President on Monday, it is reported.
Although the Chairman of the Re-settlement Authority, Hareem Peris had announced that Prime Minister Ranil will also join this occasion, Primier’s media unit has said that there is no arrangement for this in the programmes of the Premier.
