The President Maithripala Sirisena has assured in person to TNA that the lands of people in Puthukudiyiruppu and Pilakudiyiruppu will be released within 3 days. He had also issued necessary orders to relevant factions in front of TNA MPs. themselves. A meeting was held between the President and TNA members led by Sampanthan yesterday evening at the President’s Secretariat. TNA Leader Sampanthan in a media Conference held at the office of the Leader of the Opposition at around 7p.m. commented on the meeting with the President thus:
Pilakudiyiruppu people are staging struggle for the last 28 days demanding to release the lands of 84 families which are under occupation of the Air Force.The President directly contacted the Air Force Commander and ordered that the lands of people at Pilakudiyiruppu within 3 days. Similarly he made contact with the Defence Secretary to take action to release Puthukudiyiruppu lands of people. This followed the TNA assuring that the respective District Secretaries have confirmed that the deeds in possession of the people are valid and that people will not give up their struggle untilk they set foot in their lands.
The state leader is to visit North on the 4th of next month and he had ordered that the land releases should be completed before that, Sampanthan said.
